Obsessed // Chapter 6

The next day, Drake got up and kissed Nicki’s cheek before going to do his morning routine, he crept into Kyleigh’s room and leaned in her crib, rubbing a light hand on head before kissing her and silently leaving her nursery.
The drive to work was a little over hour, he parked and got out, walking to elevator. The elevator reached the correct floor and he got off. He was caught of guard to see the building decorated. Little Christmas trees here and there, ornaments hanging from the ceiling, and little snowflakes stuck on the windows.
"Wow look at this! Christmas already!"
"I’m back." Oliver said
"Oliver, feeling better?"
"Much thanks," Oliver answered. "You know it’s gonna take a lot for to miss the party, the flu ain’t nothin."
"Welp, we can’t say the same thing for Maria." Draya said.
Drake whipped his head around in shock when he heard her voice.
How is this woman still here? Drake thought to himself.
"Man you get around, don’t cha?"
Draya giggled. “Aww that poor girl, called in with the flu, must’ve gotten it from Oliver.”
"Yeah, well that’s what she gets for drinking out my cup."
"Okay…"
Once Drake walked into his office, Oliver called Draya.
"Just a quick question. How many time you get in trouble for listening in on Drake’s conversations?"
"Oh please boo, like you don’t listen to his calls," Draya retorted "Plus, I way too good to ever be caught, gotta be slick with it."
"Well okay then."
"Soooo, how long have you been working here?"
"Almost 4 years, why?"
"Well, I was just thinking that you probably knows what goes on behind these doors."
"Honey, you have no idea."
"Nickname ‘round here is Cam, cuz I see and hear everything."
"Cam huh? Well Cam what do you say about going to get a drink after work and you can fill me in?"
"If you’re trying to get me to talk with a couple cranapple vodkas, you’re right."
Hours Later
Drake left his desk to go into the break room to get his lunch when he bumped into a crying Draya.
"Oh gosh, I’m sorry, I thought everyone left for lunch. I’ll just be leaving." She sniffled.
"No uh, I should go, I intruded, you stay." Drake coaxed.
Draya sat back down and started crying again. Drake was almost to the door and was going to leave, but then he heard her crying. He couldn’t stand seeing a woman cry or hearing a woman cry for that matter.
"Are you alright?"
"Oh um yeah I’m fine."
"Well no offense you don’t look fine, wanna talk about it?"
"It’s nothing."
"Oh nothing? Okay, now most people I know don’t cry over simply nothing." Drake said walking back over to her.
"You think I’m crying? No, just really bad allergies." Draya replied while taking the tissue Drake was offering her.
"Oh okay, allergies. May I ask what it is that you’re allergic too?"
"People with penises apparently."
"May I sit?"
Draya looked up at him and lightly smiled, nodding her head and letting out a small yes.
"You havin’ boy problems or somethin’?"
"Yeah, I’m beginning to think something wrong with me."
"Nothing is wrong with you."
"Yeah I wish I could believe that?"
"Look, you just didn’t meet the one.”
"Yeah, that could be because they’re all married or in relationships, or gay, have a criminal record, and so on."
Drake exhaled before he spoke. “Okay, I’m not an expert or anything, but it seems to me if whoever and you didn’t work out maybe it wasn’t meant to be.”
"I guess." Draya replied quietly.
"And you’ll know when you meet the right guy."
"I-Is that how it was when you and Nicki met?"
Drake let a big smile grace his face before answering her question with a yes.
"Oh wonderful, now I’m jealous."
"Why?" Drake chuckled.
"She has everything, she literally is everything. Perfect house, husband, baby girl, marriage."
"No, no, nothing’s perfect. Every relationship has problems, but you move forward, compromise and sacrifice for the person or people you love."
"I guess so."
"The important thing here is to keep pushing and move forward, don’t give up, so don’t beat yourself over some jackass, I mean look at yourself, you’re intelligent, and an attractive woman, any man would be lucky enough to have you."
Draya looked down and blushed. “Yeah okay.”
"I’m serious! Honestly, if I was single.."
"Stop, you’re just trying to make me feel better."
"Well, is it working?"
"Yeah." Drake looked up and smiled at him.
"Great, alright hang in there, it’ll be fine." Drake told her as they get up and he rubbed her back.
"Thank you Drake, Mister.. Mr. Graham."
"Oh excuse I’m sorry." Draya dismissed herself.
"That’s okay," Ryan said "Okay, did I miss something?"
"Her boyfriend dumped her I guess and I was just nice."
"Aww poor her, but I’ll pick up the slack cuz she is fine piece of ass."
"Ryan calm down."
"Seriously? You haven’t noticed."
"I ain’t in the game no more. I’m coaching, so are you."
"Nah, I’m on the bench waiting to play again."
"Careful Drizz, it ain’t how it used to be when you could have a little office goodie and not get nailed for it."
"Careful Drizz?"
"What? You just went ahead and married yours."
"Hold on, if you somehow think this chick-."
"But saw her first."
"You’re an asshole."
Ryan sighed. “Unfortunately, I’m not her type, but you, on the other hand are. All I’m saying is that these single bitches see a high profile firm as their hunt ground, and this one has got you in sight.”
Drake glared at him as he watched him leave. He let out a sigh and left, walking back to his office. He started moving papers around, until he heard something hit the ground, catching his attention. He reached down and grabbed it. It was an manila envelop that contained a freshly framed picture of him, with a note from Draya.
Thanks for giving me a shoulder to cry on, I owe you one. Oh, by the way, I think you should have a picture of yourself on your desk. I mean how can a man that looks that good not wanna admire himself everyday. ~Draya.
Drake opened one of desk drawers and put the envelop and picture in there. His computer bleeped, signalling a message. He looked up and saw it was from Draya.
» What’s the matter? You don’t like it?”
Oh it’s not that my desk is messy and I have no where to put it. How did you get my picture? «
» Company website.
Nice choice, get back to work. «
» Yes sir.
